Shawanda

Shawanda is a natural born leader. When Shawanda was five years old her mother passed away. When Shawanda entered her freshman year of high school, her focus was to find friends to fill the void caused by her mother’s passing and her inconsistent and sometimes volatile relationships with other family members. As a result she struggled academically and was frequently in the principal’s office. Shawanda joined IMP at the beginning of her sophomore year and began to excel.

Shawanda says...
"IMP has taught me the importance of giving back, helping those who cannot help themselves. It has also introduced me to people from all walks of life. IMP has given me a hope for the future and encouraged me to think of the possible in impossible situations. I believe that through IMP I have truly found the good in myself and have grown as a person in a productive way I have learned that life isn’t all about what you get, but how much you can give back."

Shawanda is a beautiful poet and lyricist. She plans to attend college and major in nursing.
